Ant killed by cordyceps

The series "The Last of Us" was based on the proposition that a fungus that regularly infects insects somehow jumped to humans, like the bird flu. When ready to reproduce, the fungus takes over the ant's brain, drives it to the top of the plant, has it latch on, then grows this reproductive stalk out of its brain, and the pouch will explode, sending out spores, which will infect other ants on the way down.
