Dogbane Beetle

Chrysochus auratus

Dogbane Beetle

The most beautiful bug in the Finger Lakes. Its bright colors are a warning. It uses the same defense as Monarchs. It eats dogbane and milkweed, which contain toxic cardiac glycosides, which make it a noxious and unhealthy snack.
